Title: "What’s New in JAVA/JDK 9 and 10"

Abstract:

With the release of Java 9 and now Java 10, Oracle introduced many important changes to the Java SDK, therefore we are going to discuss, at a high level, many topics such as tools enhancements in JDK 9, changes to JDK Installer, security enhancements, deployment enhancements, the language changes that are included in Java SE, Javadoc enhancements, JVM enhancements, Nashorn enhancements, client technologies enhancements, internationalization enhancements, JVM tuning enhancements and What’s New for Core Libraries.

You can appreciate that there are many changes hence the presentation will focus on the most important topics in order to cover the interesting changes that will affect the way we program using Java.

The idea is to cover as much as possible, but with so many features the presentation will focus on an example with JMOD/JLINK and modular-development, Collection changes, JSHELL, Process API Updates and of course the new changes introduced to the platform with Java 10 like Thread-local handshakes, G1 changes, local-variable type inference, New APIs to better enable the creation of unmodifiable collections.

Speaker Bio

Jose has a BS in Computer Science with 18 years of international experience in Java Architecture, Object Oriented Design/Programming, Agile, Web Services, AWS, and Testing in Java/JEE, Scala, net, C/C++, Object-C/Swift. He also loves to improve constantly, so that he is always learning new stuff and trying to obtain new certifications such as AWS developer and upgrade to Java 8, he has obtained, so far, four Java certifications and the AWS solution architect certification. He Speaks French, Spanish and English. He also has experience teaching Java and the Design patterns, and some time ago, he worked assembling computer/PCs and teaching programming to kids.

Currently, Jose is working as Senior Software Engineer using the microservices architecture with spring boot and Java 8, Docker and AWS in Mitchell International.

He enjoys playing basketball, soccer, chess, running marathons with friends so he loves outdoor activities.
